73 - The Mindset Shift That Changed Everything For Me

Hello My Loves,
My heart always hurts when I am away from you for all but I must admit, it’s been hard juggling it all. I am working on writing ahead so that we are never apart for too long. My news of the week is I QUIT MY (9-5) JOB. Guess what!! That means I get more time to focus on you, and we can grow this community together. I have never been so excited because when God puts something in your heart, you don’t have to worry about how you’re getting there, you just have to MOVE, move, move. Step out on faith, do things you’ve never done before and learn as you go. I don’t expect it to be easy, but these are the years I can take risks, before I start a family and just, you know, find out if it’s really going to work. So stay with me, hehe and read, comment where you can, so I know I’m not alone!
Moving on to today’s article, if you are looking to change your mindset, or are feeling like you can never make the right decision. This one’s for you. In order of importance…
1. How you shop up in the world is important
The energy you carry is the invitation others accept. You have to look and feel like you are in love with yourself and your life, and if not, fake it. Dress well, smell good, smile more. You are a walking ad for yourself. You should never look like what you’re going through. Invest in you; your health, work out, your wardrobe; do not overbuy, but invest in staples you can trust. Accessorise. Be memorable. Trust me, people will treat you better, and once that energy is out there, you will start to feel better.
2. There is a solution to every problem
Now, for me, this is something that has been instilled in me from a young age, but if no one has told you. I am telling you today. Lessen the time worrying and strategise. I’ll allow you 3 hours to crash out, after it’s back to work. Crying won’t solve the problem; you have to work it out. Sit up until you work it out. It may not be solved immediately, but put a plan in place, it will only get worse if you leave it. I learned early, life flirts with you in puzzles; the answers are always hidden in plain sight. This season may feel hard, but it NEVER lasts. Don’t give up, play the game, because the bad times are inevitable; nothing can prevent them, you just have to be aware that you are in control. Also, draw closer to God
3. Play the long game
Don’t get caught up thinking you deserve something from your ‘hard work’ too early. Life is a marathon, not a sprint. Oftentimes, when I slip back into old habits and start thinking about giving up, it’s due to comparison. COMPARISION IS A THEIF OF JOY. Don’t compare yourself to anyone; you have to focus on your own lane. Take time away from social media if needed. Read books, educate yourself in other ways. Nothing good comes easy. Be willing to be in this journey for a while, whatever you are striving for, because you want it to last 10x longer than it took you to get there. Fall in love with the journey, you are becoming a better version of yourself on the way
4. Become a regular somewhere ALONE.
There is romance in routine, the barista who knows your order, the tennis court that becomes yours. Love yourself a bit more. It’s so important to sit alone with your thoughts without any outside influence. Solitude is not loneliness. You need to discover what you enjoy, how things feel doing them alone, because one day, at some point, you will feel lonely, but you need to know how to function alone. It’s not as scary as you think. Start with a mid-day movie and work your way up to a solo trip.
5. Consistency brings results
This is self-explanatory. Anything you consistently compound on will bring results, e.g. I am a curvy, Ugandan babe, genetically pre-disposed to canckles and swelling legs. Did I ever think I could run? No. Am I running? yes. Each day, I watch myself get faster. From not being able to run 1k to now running 5. That’s because I show up weekly and focus. No distractions. Just me and the road.
To Close,
Choose You.
I hope you use this week to prioritise yourself and your journey.
With Love
Xox, JK
